“WE HAVE PUT MECHANISM IN PLACE TO STOP PILGRIMAGE ABSCONDEES” – LASG

Lagos State Government has said that it has put in place all necessary apparatus to get rid of intending pilgrims with ungodly and ulterior intention to Jerusalem.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. Toyin Awoseyi who stated this on Monday, added that the State Government has also had robust welfare packages that would give the intending pilgrims the expected comfort while in the Holy Land.

Awoseyi made this known at the 2018 Dedication Service for November/December intending pilgrims to the Holy Land of Israel/Rome/Greece at the Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Ikeja.

She warned that the pilgrimage journey should not be seen as a means of escape to other countries, stressing that anyone caught with such intention would be seriously sanctioned and made to pay a sanction fee of about 5,000 dollars among other penalties.

According to her, the state government has provided everything needed to make the journey a successful and hitch-free one for all those travelling with the state government.

“Our pilgrims are going to stay in a five-star hotel; they would be taken through all historical sites in the scriptures with the help of tour-guide. Apart from this, our pilgrims have equally been given a token amount of money to appreciate them for making Lagos State Government their preferred choice for the trip,” the Permanent Secretary reiterated.

The Board Secretary of Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs. Yetunde Gbafe listed some of the places to be visited by the pilgrims to include; Bethlehem, River Jordan, Canaan among other several places.

She urged the intending pilgrims to ignite their faith to those Holi Sites and make prayers, expressing the hope that the journey would translate into a transformed lifestyle on the part of the pilgrims
